Born to Learn® Training

This training is designed for professionals who will return to their communities ready to implement the Parents as Teachers model of service, either as a stand-alone program or as part of another early childhood program such as Early Head Start, Healthy Families America or Even Start.

Each Institute focuses on personal visits, group meetings, screenings, community resources, as well as child development and parenting information. Participants who complete training are certified as Parents as Teachers parent educators, a status that is maintained through annual recertification. Institutes are offered through the United States on an ongoing basis and on-site by special arrangement for groups of 12 or more.

Self Assessment Orientation

The self-assessment orientation will help you get ready to complete a self-assessment of your program using the Parents as Teachers standards. It will increase your understanding of the key decisions and steps you will take during the process, answer frequently asked questions, and provide real world examples of how staff completes the self-assessment process. Because you can revisit the orientation as often as you want, it serves as an ongoing reference during your program?s self-assessment. Topics include:

  • The six steps of the self-assessment process
  • Benefits of completing the self-assessment process
