Welcome to Parents as Teachers University!

Parents as Teachers offers many ways for parents and professionals to learn and explore. No matter what your learning style, we give you options! Select from traditional in-person seminars and choose your location, opt for an on-site session customized for your staff, or choose the convenience of distance learning.

Born to Learn® Institute
Our Born to Learn trainings are designed for professionals who will return to their communities ready to implement the Parents as Teachers Born to Learn model, either as a stand-alone program or as part of another early childhood program such as Early Head Start, Healthy Families America or Even Start. Each training focuses on personal visits, group meetings, screenings, community resources, as well as child development and parenting information. All participants who satisfactorily complete any Parents as Teachers Born to Learn training are certified as Born to Learn parent educators.

Sessions are taught by highly experienced trainers who come from education, human development or social service backgrounds and are actively involved in Born to Learn programs.

We offer these Born to Learn Institutes throughout the United States on an ongoing basis, and on-site by special arrangement for groups of 12 or more.

Training for Supervisors of Parents as Teachers Born to Learn Programs
We offer training opportunities and a variety of materials to support the work done by supervisors of parent educators. Introductory Supervisory Training is provided during each Born to Learn Institute Prenatal to 3. Advanced Supervision Training is offered around the United States at various conferences and can be requested on-site for groups of 20 or more supervisors. Training is provided by experienced supervisors who are knowledgeable about the specific issues home visitors and parent educators bring to supervision.

Center for Professional Development and Enrichment
We also offer professional development opportunities for professionals who work with special populations. All are comprehensive two- or four-day sessions designed for parent educators, school counselors, health care professionals, social workers, child care providers, early childhood professionals and other professionals who work with young children and their families.

Instructors have expertise and focused experience working with the special population addressed in their training.

We offer these professional development opportunities throughout the United States on an ongoing basis and on-site by special arrangement for groups of 15 or more.

Distance Learning
Now learning is as close as your desktop! Our distance learning opportunities let you learn at your own pace from anywhere in the world. It's a convenient way to think, learn and explore new ideas.
