3 Years to Kindergarten Entry
A two-day training designed for parent educators who want to extend their services to families with children from 3 years to kindergarten entry. As participants become familiar with the curriculum they learn more about:
- Neuroscience information relating to children from 3 to 5 years
- Elements of literacy, including reading, writing, listening and speaking
- Aspects of motor, social-emotional and intellectual development
- Nutrition, health and safety development
- The value of play and the adult’s role
- School readiness and transition planning
- Group connections and screening strategies
Special attention is paid to the parenting issues families of preschoolers experience and the supportive role of parent educators.
Prerequisite: Foundational training or Born to Learn Prenatal to 3 Years training is required. Participants must bring a copy of the 2008 edition of the Born to Learn Curriculum: 3 Years to Kindergarten Entry to training. This can be purchased during the registration process.
Offers 14 hours of professional development and/or 1.4 CEU credits.
